Hot Wings or Hot Babe?

My weekend has been taken over by football.  Everyone I know is either having or going to a Super Bowl party.  Since all my friends (even the girls!) have suddenly become obsessed with football, my choices today are to either go the day alone, or to acquiesce to a day of <yawn> sports.

I chose the latter, obviously because I really don’t relish being alone today and how bad can it be?  My girlfriend promised me that she was going to have lots of drinks, food, and single men.   Hopefully this does not include that hopelessly insipid man that was at her last party.  (The one in the Ed Hardy shirt and a trucker hat that read “Female Body Inspector”.)  Anyway, I am cautiously optimistic.  At the very least I will get out of the house for a few hours!

The problem I have found with Super Bowl parties in general is that the men that attend these things are very distracted.  How is a girl supposed to stand a chance when the guys are up to their eyeballs in beer, football and all their favorite crap “food”.  (The “food” term used very loosely here, mind you because hot wings, chips & dip and brewski’s aren’t really food are they?)  I have come up with my own strategy today and I have high hopes that at least it will get me some attention at half-time.

It’s been raining and cold here for days.  Although the sun is finally peeking out a little today, it’s still freezing.  (California freezing that is…hovering around the low 60′s.)  I guess appropriate Super Bowl attire on a day like today would be a sweatshirt and jeans or something equally sporty.  That will not do for this Orange County girl, and I am hauling out “the sweater“.  The sweater is an amped up version of a turtleneck that when filled out properly has a very nice effect on the male species.  It hasn’t failed me yet.  We’ll see how it does when I’m up against some pretty tough obstacles.

My girlfriend asked me earlier…”Jen, who are you rooting for?   The Saints, or the Colts?”  Hmmmm.  I’m definitely no Saint, so I’m thinking that makes me a Colt fan by default.  Super Bowl, here I come.  :)
